THINGS TO DO IN AMSTERDAM

Amsterdam was on the top of my travel bucket list for as long I can remember. Last year my dream finally came true - I totally fell in love with this city and I think that I found my place in the world. This town has an incredible atmosphere - freedom, sex and amusement on the one side and on the other - it's a big inspiration for artists. Amsterdam stole my heart from the very begginning and I'm sure that someday I will be back there.

If the capital of Netherlands is your travel goal, I'd like to show you six things to do in Amsterdam.

1. Go bicycle.
Travelling is not only about sightseeing all the time. Take a break, rent a bike and explore the city like a local. Even if you're not a big fan of bikes, I'm sure you would love it in Amesterdam - bikes are everywhere there! It's also a pretty cheap way of transportation, because it costs about 12 euro/day.

2. Visit the Bloemenmarkt near to the Singel canal.
You don't have to buy flowers. I promise that you will be delighted with the views anyways. If you want, you can take some bulbs back home with you - they're ready for export. What is interesting, is this the only floating flower market in the world.

3. Go to a museum.
There's fifty one museums in Amsterdam, so I'm sure you will find the right one for you there. I mostly recommend two of them - Anne Frank House and Van Gogh Museum*. The first one was a hidden house for two Jewish families during the second war. That is the place where Anne Frank, a fifteen years old girl, wrote her famous diary. It is situated near the Jordaan district with many lovely town houses. The Van Gogh Museum is worth seeing, because it contains the largest collection of Van Gogh paintings in the world. You can find out a lot about his life and the way he worked as well as see the paintings of artists which were inspired by Van Gogh. You can also visit Rijksmuseum which is exactly next door. If you don't want to waste your time in huge lines, buy tickets online. Otherwise you will have to wait 2-3 hours.

* If you're passionate about weird cocktails, visit The House of Bols - open from the afternoon.

4. Go for a Canal Tour.
In Amesterdam are more than six hundred canals, so there's no better way to "feel" the city than by going for a Canal Tour. You can buy a cruise in one of the ports in the centre where ships are leaving every hour. In my opinion, the best time to do it is in the evening - Amsterdam is really charming then.

5. Go to the Red Light District.
Make sure that you won't skip it. Go there during the night to see the wild side of the city and the place of legal prostitution. Remember - do not take pictures!

6. Visit a Coffee Shop.
This point can be a little bit controversial, because of course not all people go to Amsterdam to smoke weed and it's not something you have to do there. It's up to you! However, it's one of the "most famous" attractions in the city. You can find the most popular Coffee Shops in De Wallen district.

Have you ever been to Amsterdam?
